Nuclear power plant site plans released by government

Eight new sites announced by Chris Huhne first guide for the future of nuclear energy in the UK since the disaster of Japan Fukushima

The government went ahead with plans for new nuclear plants in the UK, confirmed a list of eight sites where you can the next generation of reactors built.

The eight sites are: Bradwell, Essex, Hartlepool, Heysham, Lancashire, Hinkley Point in Somerset, Oldbury, South Gloucestershire, Sellafield, in Cumbria, Sizewell in Suffolk and Wylfa, Anglesey . All are adjacent to existing nuclear installations. This is the first major announcement on the future of nuclear energy in the UK since the disaster of Fukushima in Japan.


Energy Minister Charles Hendry said: "These plans provide for our energy needs to help guide the planning process, so that if acceptable proposals presented in the right places, and not face the holds of aircraft useless. "

nuclear issues is one of the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats divided as they entered the government with the coalition agreement that allows members to refrain liberal Democrats. Huhne, a Liberal Democrat, has since supported the construction of new reactors.
