News Corp appoints independent chairman to deal with hacking scandal

News Corporation on Monday appointed Lord Grabiner QC to be the independent chair of its management and strengthened the standards committee against the international scandal new phone hacking.

at a time when News Corp. confirmed that it is the most independent of MSC News International, which hosts a "security unit separate" off-base editor Wapping in the West London.

Will Lewis, CEO and director of communications NI Simon Greenberg are assigned to the MSC and its former responsibilities reassigned.

Jeff Palker, the General Counsel of News Corp Europe and Asia and an executive committee member of the SMC on the other hand, will continue with their current responsibilities.

The MSC will report to Joel Klein, executive committee member of News Corp., Vice President and Council, who in turn reports to Viet Dinh, an independent director and chairman of the designation of the business and corporate governance committee.

Grabiner, 66, is a lawyer with experience in business over 40 years in prison. It is non-executive director of the next president and Arcadia Group and former governors of the London School of Economics and member of the Bank of England Law Financial Services Committee.

Grabiner represented Liverpool Football Club in the High Court, who is also executive president of Arcadia. His site says he "specializes in banking and finance, oil and gas, civil fraud, competition and conflict in society."
