Jonathan Djanogly: moribund in a dead end job?
juvenile justice ministers do not usually go to places, but it could be accelerated to an output
After a series of revelations about the financial interest Jonathan Djanogly, there is speculation that he will lose his job in the remodeling of the next. Be an under-secretary at the Department of Justice (Justice) and its predecessors, has not often been an important route to political progress. There were a few exceptions in recent years that have spent time in the cabinet, as Geoff Hoon, and Yvette Cooper, but it is usually a visit low profile.
therefore able to make much progress in government Djanogly was not bad, but the apparent conflict of interest recently shown - not to mention anger ally last year on their use private detectives to investigate their colleagues - did not help. And, perhaps, who always gave the impression of being somewhat satisfied with their current job.
Djanogly was waiting to join Ken Clarke in the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills after the last election, but when Clarke was appointed in place of the Department of Justice, Djanogly was with him. Although the Convention may appoint counsel for the Department of Justice is gone, is still the case there is still a minister in the Secretary of State with a right and Djanogly earlier, a business partner in a major city of the London law firm is the current owner.
This experience is not much more qualified than their colleagues who are not advocates for the reform of legal aid, criminal law and contingency fee agreements, but his work During the legal aid cases and the punishment of offenders bill. For me, the recent revelations - but not in good condition - do not much in practice
Suite Responsibility for overseeing the management company claims to go to Clarke, the Bar Association jumped on the bandwagon and ordered a "pause" in the progress of the bill. While the report stage of Bill in the House of Commons was delayed a week, apparently for reasons of timing, I'm not surprised to see a break. It is almost outside the Commons and Lords to meet, where serious arguments and concessions were made (including the new clinical negligence in the field of legal assistance is a favorite of bookies "). While going Djanogly , it is unlikely to make a difference in the reform agenda - in my opinion, it is just another minister for bad cuts package, rather than a man pursues his own agenda
Djanogly- think your legacy will be the introduction of alternative business structures (ABS), which have the potential to radically transform the legal market. Despite the creation of the 2007 Labour Law Legal Services, he likes to take some credit, as he did many conservatives spade work as the act was in Parliament, and have resisted those who wanted to end the "law Tesco's "Once in power.
