community volunteers or lose benefits, notes curator of the Council
The unemployed must demonstrate that they are actively volunteering in the community in order to qualify for certain social benefits and social housing in the "civic contract" proposals made by a local conservative. " / Aa>
in measures to end what he calls "something of the culture at all," Westminster City Council is also proposing that working families and that "the rules" should be given priority for housing, while renters who do not fall under the law should be deported.Central London
Council says it wants to develop rules governing the rights of residents to be eligible for payments under local control, social housing and public services to ensure that decisions on how apply the reduction resources are guided by the principles of "responsibility, fairness and opportunity." It says its proposals, contained in a document released Monday, are a potential model for the future of local public services in Britain. He said: "A culture of" something for nothing "is no longer economically viable, and not the kind of society we want to encourage. "Other measures set by the board
Westminster are £ 1-1 night tourist tax for visitors staying in hotels, the imposition of municipal tax rates in its second full 9000 owners and increased costs a wide range of municipal services. But the proposals on benefits and housing - including the claim that social housing is "a privilege, not a right" - is likely to cause more controversy The proposals include: . Evidence of tenants of social housing for families earning above the local average income to pay higher rents. . Provide priority access to 22,000 groups of city housing police as volunteers, members of the Territorial Army, nurses and former service personnel. . Provide points of social housing allocation of credit to families adopting children or host. And subtracting points for housing applicants convicted of antisocial behavior or families whose children truant persistently . Reduce council tax benefit for households whose members are convicted of persistent antisocial behavior and crime. Reference Westminster
- also wonders if "we should expect to benefit claimants to do community work to help others while residents receiving benefits."
- people applying for social housing should be able to earn extra points for the assignment of volunteers, he added.
Westminster, Paul Dimoldenberg, said: "This is not the" great society ", but the Conservatives 'two nations', where the" deserving poor "as they are tolerated do not cause problems or are too expensive.
"The Conservatives are the best way to reduce the cost of local services such as the movement of the poorest families in Westminster and reduce the cost of education, social services and other public services. "
Own estimates Council up to 5000 show that the poorest families in the city now living in rental housing will be forced to move when the government imposed limits housing allowance for the month year.
