Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku has chance to feel the fire against Liverpool
worth their weight in gold for marginal players trying to make their presence felt at Stamford Bridge
in Hong Kong in the pre-season André Villas-Boas Chelsea tour had confirmed a new convert to the philosophy of the family. Newly installed as permanent director of the club's sixth in seven years, spoke of the talks with Roman Abramovich in which both agreed to the Carling Cup should be seen as a competition in which the blood of the next generation. For these young people still at the periphery, a home quarter-final against Liverpool on Tuesday night is another rare opportunity to impress.
Patience is a prerequisite for life, even for the most promising in a club of this size. Some players were sent to earn playing time on loan in August, but Patrick van Aanholt, with three Premier League Wigan Athletic begins, and Gaël Kakuta have a reason to ask whether life is more rewarding in other parts of part of the division. Kakuta, whose reputation was enhanced by the fury of the arrival of Lens, has appeared only three times in the top flight at Bolton Wanderers, all in banking. At least those who remained should make a shirt Chelsea on Tuesday night and feel a part.
Oriol Romeuimpressed against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday and may keep his place, but for Josh McEachran and Ryan Bertrand Romelu Lukaku, attracts high-profile opportunity. Villas-Boas approach to this contest, the first claimed by Jose Mourinho during his term, was to send a few usual mix of the team of experienced players and young graduates team links with Fulham and Everton earned a place in the quarterfinals.
McEachran, 18, a midfielder, whose elegant and mature cameos last term shows promise, started both links and undoubtedly suffered the dismissal of a teammate in each. The 116 minutes that have been successful, with a brief appearance as a substitute against Swansea City, are the first team this season participation.
- McEachran traveled with the first team against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League last week and I enjoyed being part of the process. However, only played twice for the reserves this season and a January loan move seems unlikely. Brendan Rodgers Swansea, a former manager of the reserve team of Chelsea, has already made his interest known. Bolton, with whom Jack Wilshere and Daniel Sturridge have acquired a valuable may have ruined his chances, given the tribulations Kakuta.
The Brazilian will not participate in the first team for a while, but McEachran should join the team Tuesday by fellow England Under-21 Bertrand, who became a substitute Ashley Cole, but in All the Champions League, and Lukaku. The Belgian international might feel more frustrated than most, having exchanged life difficult for league titles with Anderlecht to join the club he supported as a child.
Everton and Stoke tentatively suggested to take the striker on loan to the new year, although it would have been blocked by the appearance of three clubs in the FIFA even "years."
