Castlebeck raised 'serious concerns' - watchdog

a private care company was forced to close one of its hospitals after the horrific allegations of abuse has been ordered by the watchdog to help "root and branch improvements" after social Inspectors raised "serious concerns" about the treatment of people with intellectual disabilities in three hospitals and home care.

Castlebeck is owned by Lydia Capital Partners, an investment fund based in Geneva, supported by a consortium of investors including billionaire Denis Brosnan in Ireland, Dermot Desmond, JP McManus and John Magnier, the horse breeder careers. The NHS and local authorities Castlebeck pay an average of 3,500 pounds per week to care for each patient. Since 2006, when Lydia Capital bought the company, annual revenues grew 80% to 55 pounds.
