Open thread: how should careers advice be taught in schools?
Schools teach a program that has no relation with the world of work? Week employment begins tomorrow, we want to hear your ideas on how to provide professional advice

Professional Development expert Tristram Hooley, however, argued that career guidance should be at the heart of education and begin early in high school. He said: "Without proper training, there is a danger that schools offer a curriculum relevant ivory tower for employers and young people themselves."
- Under the Education Act 2011, providing professional advice approved by the local authorities in schools for students under 13 years. However, a recent cross-party Commons education select committee criticized the effect it has had on the quality of advice given to the young.
The Department of Education, however, says that because the careers service was at school for a period, it is too early to "judge their success."
