Xbox 720 document leak: giant hoax or Microsoft road map?

Xbox 720 to get Blu-ray, 2 Kinect and augmented reality glasses? A leaked document says it will - but can we trust him

It always happens this year before the announcement of gaming equipment expected. Diagrams download online prototype, developers are mysterious off-the-record interviews to news sites, images of the game without notice, leaks in the forums. Speculation, rumors and gossip is rife, fueled by a culture and a new voracious fan base of lovers of sophisticated technology, they know how to use Photoshop.

Now we're all pretty sure that Microsoft and Sony announce new play equipment next year, speculation has elbow-Mobile in the fourth speed and quality of the reference material is improved .

Therefore, the arrival of a 56-page document, apparently written by sources inside Microsoft, describing the future of the Xbox. Posted on the website for sharing documents, Scribd, and filtered Nukezilla game site, the report suggests that the Xbox 720 was launched in 2013, priced at $ 299 (£ 191). It will feature a Blu-ray and a new Kinect motion sensor 2 with voice recognition more difficult, a better camera and monitor HDRGB four players. Commissioning of the machine followed a year later by the arrival of ships increased technology reaiity called Fortaleza (a concept similar to Google combined AR).

The document depth of Microsoft's plans to dominate the living room entertainment area, offering video on demand, transmedia entertainment and other applications and games. It lists the main rivals of the company like Apple, Google and OnLive - all producers of content solutions and streaming television. There are pleny of materials related to the implementation of Microsoft recently announced SmartGlass designed to enable platforms for interaction between the Xbox console, smart phones and tablets.

not "information" as in the Xbox 720 specs. One slide refers to the processing power of 6x beyond the current Xbox 360 - although there seems to be ambiguity as to whether the processor is based on the arm or Intel processors.

But, according to Joystiq, the document goes back to the summer of 2010, long before Microsoft officially announced SmartGlass - and literature offender was removed from Scribd by Covington and Burling, a law firm been used by Microsoft. There is also a clever pay-off at the end - a single slide headed with the words, "to respond to further questions by Todd" - a reference undoubtedly Xbox Hardware guru Todd Holmdahl

It is possible that, rather than representing a true roadmap for the console, this is a proposal of principles drafted by a Microsoft department to another, a means of clarifying messaging for the release. Of course, there are plenty of marketing vernacular and is structured in an authentic way (ie, essentially the same things over and over again, but differently in the sections headed).
